About Barrie Snow Removal
Snow Only, Barrie Only
Barrie Snow Removal is a snow-only contractor working out of Barrie, Ontario, running tractor routes for driveways and crews for walkways, windrows and small commercial lots. We do not cut grass in summer and we do not take on the whole county; we take on the parts of Barrie and the neighbouring townships where a tractor can be at every driveway on its list within hours of a 5 cm snowfall. This page is what you can hold us to.
Why Snow Only
Barrie gets 223 cm of snow in a long-term average winter and had 300 cm between November 1, 2025 and January 28, 2026. In a city like that, a lawn company that plows on the side runs out of machines in the first big December squall. Our tractors, blowers and trucks exist for one season, and the fall is spent staking driveways, walking commercial sites and fixing equipment, not finishing landscaping jobs.
The Rules We Work Under
The City of Barrie plows streets at about 8 cm and public sidewalks after that, and leaves driveways, walkways and windrows to residents. Pushing snow onto the road or sidewalk breaks Nuisance By-law (343) 947-5029 and section 181 of the Highway Traffic Act, so our snow goes onto your property.
Overnight parking is banned on city streets from December 1 to March 31, which is why the car stays in the driveway and we work around it. Section 6.1 of the Occupiers' Liability Act names snow contractors in slip-and-fall notices, which is why every visit is logged.
How a Season Runs
You get a visit and a written quote with each service on its own line: driveway, windrow return, walkway, salting. Before the first snow we stake the driveway edges. At 5 cm the route starts, you get a text when it is done, and after the city plow passes we come back for the windrow. On squall days you see us more than once. In April we pull the stakes, rake any gravel off the lawn and fix anything the blower marked.
What You Can Hold Us To
A 5 cm trigger in writing. No event cap and no centimetre cap on a seasonal contract. A return pass for the windrow on every contract. Half the season on signing and half on January 15, never the whole winter up front. Thirty days' written notice to cancel from either side, with unused months refunded. A visit log you can ask for at any time.
