Snow Removal in Barrie, ON for Driveways and Walkways

Barrie Snow Removal clears driveways, walkways and the windrow the city plow leaves at the end of your driveway, for homeowners across Barrie and the smaller towns in Simcoe County.

We run tractors with rear blowers on tight routes, start at 5 cm. You get a driveway you can leave from in the morning.

Snow Removal Services for Barrie Homes and Businesses

Barrie gets 223 cm of snow in an average winter and had 300 cm between November 1, 2025 and January 28, 2026, most of it in lake-effect squalls off Georgian Bay. The City of Barrie plows your street and the public sidewalk, and leaves the driveway, the walkway and the windrow to you.

The Two Questions Barrie Homeowners Ask First

The first is the windrow. The City's winter maintenance page says it in one line: all residents in Barrie are responsible for the removal of driveway windrows, as the City does not provide this service. In December 2025 council was told a city-run windrow program would cost more than $12 million a year, so it is not coming. Our contracts can include a return pass after the city plow, and we sell a one-time windrow dig-out to people who shovel the rest themselves.

The second is when we show up. The City plows residential streets once about 8 cm has fallen and aims to finish 12 to 24 hours after the snow stops. We typically start our routes at 5 cm, which means we are on your driveway before the city plow reaches your street on most storms, and back after it. We do not promise 7 am, because no crew running a route in a squall can.

Six Services

Each service below has its own page with what the work involves, what the City's rules say, and what a quote covers

Tractor-blown driveways on a named route in your part of Barrie, cleared after every snowfall of 5 cm or more, with a second pass on squall days.

One price for the season, November 15 to April 1, with the trigger depth, the windrow return and the cancel terms written on the contract.

The City of Barrie does not clear the pile its plow leaves across your driveway. We come back for it after the plow, on contract or as a one-time dig-out.

Front walk, steps and side path shovelled to bare surface on every visit, and downtown frontages cleared before the 10 am deadline in By-law (343) 947-5029.

Salt or sand on walkways and driveways after freezing rain and thaw-freeze days, applied by the bucket rather than the spreader, as a stated add-on.

Plow, blower and sidewalk crews for small plazas, offices, churches and multi-unit buildings in Barrie, with a service log for every visit.

What Happens on a 40 cm Squall Day

Lake-effect snow comes in bands, so a squall can drop 5 to 10 cm an hour on Ferndale and nothing on Painswick, then swing. During the November 2025 squalls the City declared a Winter Maintenance Event and 20 to 30 cm fell in a day and a half. On those days we clear each driveway on the route once it has 5 cm, keep going until the band moves off, and come back for the next 5 cm and the windrow.

You will not get one perfect clearing at 7 am. You will get an open driveway several times through the day, and the pile at the road gone by the time the city plow has finished your street. If Highway 400 closes, as it did between Highway 89 and Mapleview Drive on February 3, 2023, our tractors are already on their routes inside Barrie and keep working.

What a Written Quote Covers

We quote after a visit, because the price of snow removal in Barrie depends on things a postal code cannot tell us: the width and length of the driveway, whether it is interlock, asphalt or gravel, how many steps lead to the door, where the snow can be piled, and whether you want the municipal sidewalk done as well.

We do our best to quote lists the driveway, the walkway, the windrow return and any salting as separate lines, with the trigger depth, the contract dates and the cancel terms written out. The number on the quote is the number on the invoice unless you add a line.
